I started out with a love for hair and fashion. What I quickly realized was my chosen profession was so much more. Not only do I create hair styles, I boost self esteem and empower people to be the best version of themselves. When I finish appointments with clients they leave feeling more beautiful than when they arrived. How does it get any better than that???✂️❤️✂️🧡✂️💚✂️💙✂️💜✂️

What should you EXPECT from your stylist???

Updated: Oct 14, 2022

So last week I touched on what I’d like to make understood… every stylist is NOT right for every client. I had a client once say to me “Well I always have to go home and wash and style my hair my way before I can decide if I like it.” “WHAT?!?!” I asked, considering the styling is what makes us feel like rock stars and typically is the style we try to recreate (usually unsuccessfully) between appointments, this statement was crazy to me. Believe it or not this client was not the last to say something like this to me and what I began to realize was every stylist is NOT right for every client. Although what this client had said seemed crazy to me not every stylist is like me (I know weird right!) When I went through hair school the teachers always said “Dress to impress, business casual/professional” what they left out of that explanation was to also be yourself. Yes be professional and look the part but remember like attracts like. So if you are pretending to be something your not, you will attract clients that are attracted to that persona. So make sure you and your stylist jive!!!

So as I began to learn about these problems I have realized that clients often settle. They have been with a stylist a long time and give up on their ideas when said stylist tells them no. They buy into promises q and disregard their better judgement when they can visibly see the truth. They let their loyalty get the best of them and give too many chances to stylists that are not giving them what they need/desire. What you should you expect from your stylist??? You should feel heard, there should be communication. Often times in this Industry I’ve noticed stylists get comfortable, dare i say cocky, when a client has been longtime loyal. They begin to give less than best with this attitude. Well reality is your spending your hard earned dollars on our time and expertise. So when your appointment is booked your entitled to just that. You should ALWAYS feel respected. Your feelings, your opinion, your time, your money, your person and of course the integrity of your hair!!! I feel very strongly in the old kindergarten lesson “treat others as you wish to be treated.” Your time in the chair is yours but ideally you should feel relaxed. Some work while processing and we can’t control those stresses but however we can accommodate rest and relaxation it should be done. If you leave feeling exhausted, panhandled, like your paying to be our therapist it may be time to try someone new!!! You should NEVER know more about your stylist than they know about you! Which rolls into our next expectation. You should feel rejuvenated, encouraged, your self esteem should ALWAYS be higher than when you walked thru the door. You should be receiving tips, tricks, style hacks, product knowledge and recommendations to help you keep that self esteem up until your next appointment. You should be leaving with happy hair every visit. I am very treatment oriented as I’ve said before, if your not seeing improvements in your hair within the first 6 months with a stylist or at least feeling confident in the plan of attack, then you are settling for less than best. Remember every stylist is NOT right for every client!!! Till next time love yourself, love your hair and keep enjoying the journey! ❤️
